Six-goal Augustin crowned top scorer

France forward Jean-Kévin Augustin has taken the top scorer prize at the UEFA European Under-19 Championship after registering in the final to finish ahead of team-mate Kylian Mbappé.

Paris Saint-Germain's Augustin went into the showpiece game against Italy level with Mbappé on five strikes, but he quickly added to his haul with the opener in a 4-0 victory, equalling the record for a finals tournament. The duo scored all of France's goals in the group stage – Augustin contributing a hat-trick against the Netherlands – before Monaco's Mbappé took centre stage in the semi-final defeat of Portugal, setting up the first goal and scoring the next two.

Italy's Federico Dimarco struck four goals, meanwhile, including penalties against Germany, Portugal and then England in the semi-finals, when he also added a fine free-kick. He finished level with Germany's Phillipp Ochs, scorer of a treble against Portugal, with Netherlands striker Sam Lammers a goal further back on three.

In the season overall, Augustin took the scoring prize with 11 goals – four more than Mbappé and Jong Oranje's Lammers. Russia's Ramil Sheydaev set a new mark for the season with 12 goals in 2014/15; Spain's Álvaro Morata (2010/11) and Davie Selke of Germany (2013/14) are also the joint top scorers in one final tournament with six goals apiece.
