France right-back Bacary Sagna will play no part in UEFA EURO 2012 after breaking the fibula in his right leg for the second time this season.

The 29-year-old was carried from the field after receiving a kick in his Arsenal FC's 3-3 home draw with Norwich City FC. Sagna, capped 32 times by Les Bleus, sustained a similar injury in October against Tottenham Hotspur FC and did not return to competitive action for almost four months.

"The season is over for him – he will not play in the EUROs," said Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger. "It has not happened alone, he has been kicked on the leg. I don't know exactly what happened and will have to see it on the television again."

Arsenal have confirmed that today's injury is higher in Sagna's fibula than that which he suffered earlier in the campaign. France begin their UEFA European Championship campaign on 11 June against England in Donetsk and then face co-hosts Ukraine four days later. Laurent Blanc's team play Sweden in their final Group D fixture.
