Sweden midfielder Tobias Linderoth may miss UEFA EURO 2008™ after being diagnosed with a rare pelvic condition.
Unusual condition
The 28-year-old defensive midfielder, who joined Galatasaray AS from Danish side FC København in the summer, has been beset by injuries since arriving in Istanbul, but his latest problem may be the worst yet. A doctor's diagnosis suggests that the player's pelvis is expanding and causing inflammation. Should Linderoth require surgery, he could be out of action for eight months.
Leverkusen tie
Capped 73 times by Sweden, Linderoth played the last of his seven league games for Galatasaray on 21 October, although he subsequently featured in three UEFA Cup group stage matches. Galatasaray finished third in Group H and will face German side Bayer 04 Leverkusen in their Round of 32 tie on 13/14 and 21 February. Sweden will play Greece, Spain and Russia in UEFA EURO 2008™ Group D.
