After Spain ended their 44-year wait for a major trophy at UEFA EURO 2008, incoming coach Vincente del Bosque was under pressure to continue the success.
But in his first tournament, the 2010 FIFA World Cup, he duly delivered their first senior global title and at UEFA EURO 2012 will attempt to make Spain the first team to successfully defend the continental crown. However, he warns: "I think we have to be like normal people. We can be proud of what we've achieved, but at the same time it belongs to the past, and we have to face the future. And if we want to keep our feet on the ground there is no other possibility than to forget that we won it, and prepare for the future."
