Absent through illness for the decider, Emmanuel Petit remembers the final of UEFA EURO 2000 as being "like a Hitchcock movie" – with 1998 FIFA World Cup winners France fighting back to win 2-1 against Italy through David Trezeguet's golden goal. Fabio Cannavaro argues that his side "played much better than France", but Les Bleus goalkeeper Fabien Barthez insists they were worthy winners. "For me, the best French national team was the one at EURO 2000," he tells UEFA.com in this review of the tournament. "Not the one in 1998."
