Salzburg are the ultimate underdogs but can draw encouragement from Bochum's Bundesliga defeat of Bayern on Saturday. Indeed, Salzburg have similar qualities to Bochum: lightning-fast attackers and a team that plays with great intensity on the pitch. With their 2-1 comeback win at Rapid Wien on Friday, the Austrian champions have added confidence; throw a sold-out home crowd into the mix and anything is possible.

Bayern are clear favourites in this tie but have yet to fully click under Julian Nagelsmann. The Bundesliga leaders were humbled in a 4-2 defeat at newly promoted Bochum on Saturday and are without several key players in Manuel Neuer, Alphonso Davies and Leon Goretzka. Defensive fragility and a lack of depth is a concern as we enter the business end of the season, though the German champions can draw inspiration from the 6-2 win on their only previous visit to Salzburg last season.
