Bayer 04 Leverkusen have completed the signing of South Korea striker Son Heung-Min from Hamburger SV, on a day when Chelsea FC announced they had "reached an agreement" with the Werkself for the transfer of André Schürrle.

Son, who has joined Leverkusen for an undisclosed fee, has penned a five-year contract at the BayArena. The 20-year-old was Hamburg's joint top scorer last season with 12 Bundesliga goals, four of which came in two victories against 2013 UEFA Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund.

"He is quick, agile and technically strong," said sporting director Rudi Völler of the HSV academy graduate. "He also has a great finish on him. Son will help us achieve our goals in the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal and the UEFA Champions League."

Son could replace former 1. FSV Mainz 05 player Schürrle in the Leverkusen forward line. In a statement on their website, Chelsea said the arrangement for the German international, 22, "was subject to the completion of legal documentation and related matters, including personal terms and passing a medical".

Chelsea and Leverkusen will begin their 2013/14 UEFA Champions League campaigns in the group stage following respective third-place finishes last term.
