Kasper Schmeichel, grande protagonista ieri alla Coppa del Mondo FIFA con tre rigori parati che non sono riusciti a evitare l'eliminazione della sua Danimarca agli ottavi contro la Croazia, aveva un tifoso speciale in tribuna ad esultare alle sue parate: il padre Peter, vincitore della UEFA Champions League 1998/99 tra i pali del Manchester United.
Nel corso della sua carriera, l'attuale numero 1 della Danimarca ha saputo seguito le del padre, campione d'Inghilterra con il Manchester United nel 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1999 oltre ai trionfi in Danimarca con il Brøndby (1987, 1988, 1990) e in Portogallo con lo Sporting (2000), vincendo la Premier League con il Leicester nel 2015/16 sotto la guida di Claudio Ranieri.
