UEFA Champions League hopefuls Paris Saint-Germain FC have announced the signing of AC Milan and Brazil defender Thiago Silva on a five-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
The 27-year-old centre-back becomes the club's second high-profile signing from Serie A this summer after they snared SSC Napoli's Ezequiel Lavezzi at the start of the month. Despite extending his stay at Milan until 2017 just 12 days ago, Thiago Silva leaves having made 93 Serie A appearances after signing from Fluminense FC in 2008, and helping Milan claim the Italian title in 2010/11.
Capped 28 times by Brazil, he will be reunited at PSG with the French side's sporting director Leonardo, his coach at San Siro in 2009/10. PSG finished second in Ligue 1 under another former Rossoneri coach, Carlo Ancelotti, last term and will contest the UEFA Champions League group stage this season.
